Akanksha is also careful not to describe the incident as betrayal, pointing out that her friendship with Shreya was still in its early stages. “I never felt betrayed as such because it was the initial phase of our friendship only. We weren’t that close as we had just met. We were just exploring where this relation was going, so there was no betrayal. You don’t expect anyone to do this kind of thing to someone just to be on a game show,” she says.
But Akanksha’s assessment of Shreya herself remains particularly harsh. “Shreya was the most evil person in the house. I still believe that. She is very mean,” she adds.
According to Akanksha, what made the fallout worse was what she perceived as a contradiction between Shreya’s behaviour inside the house and what she was told about her personality outside the show. “Inside the house, she would tell all of us to be real to ourselves, not be diplomatic and show our true selves. However, her boyfriend would tell me that Shreya is very much like me in real life and that we would be best friends. He said she isn’t the same like she acts in the show,” she recalls.
For Akanksha, that raised questions about whether Shreya herself was being genuine on Lock Upp. “This means that she was being fake on Lock Upp. She is preaching to everyone but she herself is having a fake personality. She’s an evil person,” she says.
Akanksha also says that she would never have used something so personal against another contestant simply to advance in a reality show. “Just to win the show, she went to the extent of revealing my biggest secret. Chota mota secret hota toh fark bhi nahin padta mujhe, but this was a big one. I would never do that to anyone,” she says.
Shreya ultimately secured her place in the finale, while Akanksha was eliminated just two days before the grand finale.
