Got Question about the News?

Former Australian cricketer and India head coach Greg Chappell said that, from what he saw in a recent video showing Imran Khan being taken to the hospital in a wheelchair, he didn’t look great physically, adding that the former Pakistan captain isn’t getting any better.
Imran has been incarcerated since 2023 in connection with corruption charges, which he has denied. Last week, 21 former players wrote to Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, requesting him to ensure humane treatment for Imran.

The players penned the letter after reports emerged that Imran had been taken to hospital on the apex court’s orders but received limited attention from the doctors. According to reports, his medical examination was completed in a very short time.
“At the moment, he isn’t getting any better. You know, from a physical point of view, it is hard to get information, but I saw a video clip the other day, I am assuming, of his latest trip to the hospital where he was put into a wheelchair to get him to, from wherever he was, to wherever he was going and he did not look well at all,” Chappell said while speaking on The Grade Cricketerpodcast.
“He did not look robust. He did not look like he could really… get around very much. I mean, 73 years of age, so obviously, you know, he is getting older, but, you know, I met up with him in Pakistan 6 years ago and he was still a strong, robust older man,” Chappell said.
“That isn’t the case anymore. His right eye apparently [has developed a disability]… he is struggling. He has been in isolation for 3 years. I don’t know how anyone deals with that,” Chappell added.
This is the second time the former cricketers have appealed to the Pakistani authorities. Earlier this year, in February, reports emerged that Imran was losing vision in his right eye, prompting some of the 21 former players to write to the authorities and request them to ensure he received proper treatment.
Quick Answers
Imran Khan faces corruption charges related to the Al-Qadir Trust case. These charges allege that his administration used repatriated funds from the UK to pay a businessman’s fines instead of depositing the amount into the national exchequer. Additionally, the businessman reportedly donated over 57 acres of land for the Al-Qadir University Trust, which Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi chaired.
