Iran-US War News LIVE Updates: The Iran-US war enters another tense phase as Washington steps up economic pressure on Tehran while fresh concerns emerge over shipping through the Strait of Hormuz and the fate of Iranian protesters facing execution. US President Donald Trump has demanded an immediate halt to executions in Iran, calling the killings a “humanitarian crisis of epic proportions” as the number of protesters executed since the war began continues to rise.

At sea, an AFP analysis has found that at least 14 of the 45 vessels blacklisted by an Iranian maritime authority have already been attacked around the Strait of Hormuz, highlighting the risks facing commercial shipping through the strategic waterway.

Meanwhile, US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent has unveiled what Washington calls an economic onslaught against Iran, threatening secondary sanctions against countries and entities doing business with Tehran and targeting sectors including oil, shipping, aviation, gold, technology and digital assets. The measures have been viewed by investors as less severe than feared, sending oil prices lower and global stocks higher.

Iran-US War Live Updates: Stocks Rise, Oil Falls As Traders See Iran Sanctions As Softer Than Feared

Iran-US War Live Updates: Global stocks rose and oil prices fell on Tuesday after the US announced new sanctions against Iran, with investors viewing the measures as less severe than expected. Brent crude fell around 3% to below $90 a barrel, while major European stock markets gained. Investors interpreted the lack of immediate, sweeping sanctions against Iran’s trading partners as reducing the chances of renewed military escalation after six months of war. The Strait of Hormuz remains a major focus, however, with efforts to reopen the waterway stalled and neither Washington nor Tehran showing signs of backing down.
