Thalapathy Vijay’s Jana Nayagan is finally heading to OTT after a long and delayed journey to the big screen. The film, billed as Vijay’s final movie before he focuses fully on politics, will premiere on ZEE5 on August 21, 2026, giving fans another chance to watch the actor’s farewell film from home.

When And Where To Watch Jana Nayagan On OTT

ZEE5 Tamil announced the streaming date on Monday through an AI-generated teaser. The platform shared the news on Instagram with the caption, “Thangamey! Thalapathy #Jananayagan is all set to meet you all on 21st August only on Zee 5,” confirming that the film will be available from August 21.

Directed by H Vinoth, Jana Nayagan stars Vijay alongside Pooja Hegde, Bobby Deol and Mamitha Baiju. Gautham Vasudev Menon, Prakash Raj and Narain are also part of the cast.

Jana Nayagan Took Months To Reach Theatres

The OTT release comes less than a month after Jana Nayagan finally opened in cinemas on July 23. The film had initially been planned for a January 9 release, but its certification process with the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) caused a months-long delay.

The film eventually received an A certificate before its theatrical release. The certification process also led to legal battles and further uncertainty around the release. The film’s delayed arrival affected its release plans and distribution schedules before the makers finally locked the July date.

Jana Nayagan Review

News18 gave the film three stars. An excerpt from the review read, “It may not rank among Vijay’s finest films but it understands its true purpose. It isn’t merely trying to tell a story. It’s bidding farewell to an era. In celebrating the hero, the man and the phenomenon, Jana Nayagan becomes a fitting curtain call for Thalapathy Vijay and a nostalgic tribute to the countless years he has spent entertaining millions.”

Vijay has described Jana Nayagan as his final film as he moves towards a full-time political career. The film’s theatrical run has now been followed by its digital premiere, giving his fans another opportunity to see the actor in what has been billed as his cinematic farewell.
