Kangana Ranaut–Taapsee Pannu’s rift is one of the most talked-about feuds in Bollywood. The two actresses, though they have never directly spoken to each other, have often taken digs at each other in several interviews. Their rift dates back to 2019, during the release of Kangana’s film Judgementall Hai Kya. Here’s an entire timeline of what has happened.

In 2019, Taapsee praised the trailer of Judgementall Hai Kya but missed mentioning anything about Kangana, and this marked the beginning of their feud.

Kangana’s sister Rangoli wasn’t happy with this gesture and lashed out at Taapsee, saying, “Kuch log Kangana ko copy kar ke hi apni dukaan chalate hain, magar pls note, they never acknowledge her, not even a mention of her name in praising the trailer. Last I heard Taapsee ji said Kangana needs a double filter and Taapsee ji, you need to stop being a sasti copy.”

The situation escalated when old comments by Taapsee about Kangana resurfaced. Taapsee had once questioned Kangana’s way of questioning things and disapproved of her way of attacking people in the industry.

Later, Kangana hit back and, in a 2020 interview, lashed out at Taapsee, Swara and Richa, calling them ‘needy outsiders’ who denied the existence of nepotism and sucked up to Karan. She even called them B-grade actresses.

Taapsee hit back and, while speaking to HT, said, “None of my past films have been produced by any of these mafia gangs Kangana keeps targeting and mentioning about, nor are any of my future films from them. So, how is my existence because of nepotism? Or undermining someone’s genuine achievements by crediting wrong sources, and then mocking, is how you prove that you are a true successful outsider?”

Speaking on Shubhankar Mishra’s YouTube channel in February 2026, Taapsee opened up about the long feud and said, “I don’t know when I ever fought. A fight happens when two people clash. I never clashed. You tell me, have I ever said even a single line against her?”

“Her sister called me a ‘cheap copy.’ She said that since I don’t earn as much money here, that makes me cheap. If she is such a brilliant actress, I have no problem being called her copy,” Taapsee added and said that she is open to friendship despite their feud.

Their controversy was renewed when, in a recent interview with India Today, Taapsee said she had never met Kangana before their issues began and has still not met her. She said their views reflected their own upbringing and way of seeing things.

This statement invited strong criticism from the Queen star, who took to her Instagram and hit back at Taapsee. Kangana suggested that people from difficult financial backgrounds had often questioned her upbringing and attacked her parents.
