The 39-year-old needed 35 runs in the CPL 2026 match against Saint Lucia Kings to go past Buttler, and he played a superb knock of 65 runs off 26 balls for Trinbago Knight Riders while batting at No. 6 in their 212-run chase at the Brian Lara Stadium in Tarouba.

The knock of 65 has taken Pollard’s tally to 14,921 runs in 666 innings across 749 T20 matches.

He will now have a chance to become the first player in the world to score 15,000 runs in T20 cricket during TKR’s next match against Barbados Tridents at the same venue on Friday (Saturday IST).

During his stay at the crease in Thursday’s CPL 2026 match, Pollard batted at a strike rate of 250 and smashed six fours and five sixes for the Andre Russell-led side.

The five maximums have taken Pollard’s tally to 1,010 sixes in T20 cricket. He is now just 47 sixes away from breaking Chris Gayle’s world record for the most sixes in the 20-over format.

Pollard and Gayle are the only two players in the world to have hit more than 1,000 sixes in T20 cricket. They are followed by Andre Russell, who has smashed 808 maximums in the 20-over format.
