Mahesh Bhatt Says Raha Has A ‘Different Vibe’

Speaking to TOI, Mahesh said Raha commands everyone’s attention whenever she enters the house. According to him, there is something distinct about her personality even at such a young age.

“She’ll outdistance Ranbir Kapoor and Alia by miles. She’s different. She has a different vibe. When she comes, the whole house becomes hostage to her energy. For those few hours, she becomes the centre of everything,” he said.

Mahesh also recalled accompanying Neetu Kapoor to Raha’s school for Grandparents’ Day while his wife, Soni Razdan, was away in Istanbul. Walking alongside his granddaughter unexpectedly transported him back to his years as a young father.

He remembered holding one of Raha’s hands as Neetu held the other while they walked through soap bubbles at the school. Mahesh said the experience reminded him of doing something similar with his elder daughter Pooja Bhatt when she was a child.

“It brought back memories of walking with Pooja when she was little. Suddenly, time collapsed,” he recalled, describing Raha as a “vibrant version” of Pooja.

Raha Loves Correcting Her Grandfather

Their relationship, however, is still developing. Mahesh joked that Raha is probably still figuring out who exactly her grandfather is and why he talks the way he does.

Storytelling has become one way for the two to bond. Mahesh said he manages to tell Raha stories, but she is quick to step in whenever he gets something wrong. In particular, she enjoys correcting him if he mispronounces the name of an animal.

The filmmaker also credited Soni and Neetu for being devoted grandmothers, saying Raha has “the best Nani and Dadi”.

Mahesh Bhatt Praises Ranbir Kapoor As A Father

Mahesh also had warm words for Ranbir and the way he has embraced fatherhood. He said he has been “astounded” by Ranbir’s role as a parent and praised both him and Alia for remaining closely involved in Raha’s upbringing despite demanding acting careers.

For Mahesh, their approach also challenges an old perception that successful film stars inevitably end up neglecting family life because of work.

He believes technology and improved communication have made it easier for working parents to remain connected with their children even when professional commitments take them away from home.

Ranbir and Alia tied the knot in April 2022 after dating for several years. They welcomed Raha in November that year.
