Sara Arjun To Play Madhubala In Upcoming Biopic?
According to a Mid-Day report, the Madhubala biopic is expected to go on floors at Royal Palms in Goregaon, Mumbai, soon after Love & War completes filming.
Interestingly, the location currently being used for Bhansali’s film will reportedly be transformed for the biopic.
“After the Love & War shoot concludes in August-end, the production design team of the Madhubala biopic will start work on transforming the space. The film is expected to roll in September,” the report stated.
While Bhansali is associated with the project, Jasmeet K Reen will reportedly take charge as director. Jasmeet previously helmed the Alia Bhatt and Shefali Shah-starrer Darlings.
Sara Arjun Has Reportedly Started Preparing For The Role
Taking on Madhubala would put Sara at the centre of a film about one of the most recognisable stars in the history of Hindi cinema.
The report claims that preparations for the role are already underway, with the team paying particular attention to recreating Madhubala’s personality and the period in which she lived and worked.
“Sara has started preparing for the role. Jasmeet wants to capture Madhubala’s personality, mannerisms, and the world she inhabited,” the report added.
Further details about the screenplay and the other actors expected to join the project haven’t been revealed yet.
Madhubala remains one of Indian cinema’s most celebrated screen icons. During a career cut short by her death at the age of 36, she starred in films including Mahal, Mr & Mrs 55, Chalti Ka Naam Gaadi and Barsaat Ki Raat. Her portrayal of Anarkali in K Asif’s Mughal-e-Azam remains among her most enduring performances.
Bhansali Nears Completion Of Love & War
Before work begins on the biopic, Bhansali is reportedly completing the remaining portions of Love & War, starring Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal.
The team is currently said to be filming the movie’s final song at Royal Palms, with the shoot expected to conclude by the end of August.
Love & War reunites Bhansali with Ranbir nearly two decades after the filmmaker launched him as a leading man in Saawariya in 2007. The upcoming film also brings Bhansali together with Alia again after Gangubai Kathiawadi.
Set against a wartime backdrop, Love & War reportedly revolves around an intense relationship involving its three central characters. Ranbir and Vicky are said to play military officers whose lives become intertwined with Alia’s character.
The film is currently scheduled to arrive in theatres on January 21, 2027.
What’s Next For Ranbir, Alia And Vicky?
The three Love & War stars also have major projects lined up beyond the Bhansali directorial.
Ranbir will be seen in Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana: Part 1 and also has Animal Park and Brahmastra Part 2 in the pipeline. Alia is expected to return for the next chapter of Brahmastra.
Vicky, meanwhile, is expected to move on to the mythological action drama Mahavatar.
