Shahneel Gill, sister of Indian cricketer Shubman Gill, is now stepping into the spotlight herself as a contestant on Karan Johar’s The Traitors Season 2. The reality show premieres on Prime Video on August 13, with Shahneel among its 21 contestants.

While Shahneel is best known to cricket fans as Shubman Gill’s sister, she already has a sizeable social-media following of her own. Her entry into The Traitors 2 marks her first major reality-TV appearance, putting her in a very different arena from the cricket stadiums where she has often been spotted supporting her brother.

Before becoming a familiar face on Instagram, Shahneel spent several years in Canada. She reportedly studied business administration at Red River College Polytechnic in Winnipeg, completing her diploma in 2019 after earlier studying in Mohali and Chandigarh.

Shahneel’s life wasn’t always about social media and celebrity appearances. According to her reported LinkedIn history, she worked as a Success Consultant at Canadian food-delivery company SkipTheDishes.

Shahneel has since carved out her own space online, sharing travel, fashion, fitness and lifestyle posts on Instagram. Her account, @shahneelgill, had crossed 426,000 followers by June 2025 and has continued to attract attention as she prepares for The Traitors 2.

Shahneel has been a familiar presence during Shubman Gill’s cricket journey, often supporting him from the stands and sharing glimpses of their bond online. In an earlier Gujarat Titans video, she spoke about growing up with Shubman and described him as her best friend during their childhood.

Shahneel also shares a reported friendship with Sara Tendulkar, daughter of cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar. The two were photographed together during a late-night outing in Mumbai in January 2024, while Sara has also continued to follow Shahneel on Instagram.

Their friendship also became a talking point because Shubman Gill had long been rumoured to be dating Sara, although neither Shubman nor Sara has publicly confirmed those reports.

Ahead of the show’s premiere, Shahneel has also been interacting with several of her fellow contestants on social media, including Rhea Chakraborty, Shalini Passi and Krystle D’Souza. All three are part of the 21-member The Traitors 2 cast, giving fans an early glimpse of some of the friendships forming around the show.

Shahneel may have dropped a playful hint about how she plans to approach the game. In a reply to a comment on social media, she reportedly wrote that she had “killed it with kindness”, a line that could offer a clue about whether charm and friendliness will be part of her strategy on The Traitors 2.

The Traitors Season 2 brings together 21 contestants from different corners of entertainment, including Shahneel Gill, Rhea Chakraborty, Shalini Passi, Krystle D’Souza, Shweta Tiwari, Mallika Sherawat, Munawar Faruqui, Abhishek Malhan and chef Ranveer Brar. Hosted by Karan Johar, the reality show revolves around alliances, deception and betrayal, with the contestants competing to identify the Traitors and make it to the end. The new season premieres on Prime Video on August 13.
