Leading 1-0 in the two-match Test series against Sri Lanka, India have made one change to their playing XI that secured a big win in Galle earlier this week. As was widely expected, left-arm spinner Kuldeep Yadav has been consigned to the bench for the 2nd Test in Colombo in which India won the toss and opted to bat first on Sunday morning.
Kuldeep has been replaced in the playing XI by 33-year-old off-spinner Saransh Jain, who is making his debut. Jain represents Madhya Pradesh in the Indian domestic circuit and was picked in the squad as an injury replacement for all-rounder Washington Sundar.

Kuldeep was out-bowled by his fellow India spinners Manav Suthar and Ravindra Jadeja in the series opener, which India won by 165 runs.
However, India captain Shubman Gill said Kuldeep hasn’t been picked due to an illness.
“Kuldeep, unfortunately, had some infections, so he misses out, and Saransh makes his debut for India,” Gill said at the toss.
The 31-year-old Kuldeep took one wicket in the first innings of the first Test but went wicketless in the second. On the other hand, the 24-year-old Manav Suthar, playing in his just 2nd Test of his career, finished with a match haul of 10/131.

Shubman Gill Rates India’s Win In Galle: 9/10
While India may have dominated the first Test in Galle, skipper Gill feels there’s room for improvement.
“I would say probably a nine (out of 10), because there’s always room for improvement, and I think we played a pretty good match, a decent match. And obviously there were some areas where we could have got a little bit better. It’s very, very difficult to be able to have a near-perfect game (in Test cricket) because you’re playing for five days, and to play that dominant and consistent cricket, especially in Test, is hard. But I think overall we had a pretty good match,” Gill said.
