The Afghanistan Cricket Board has said that they will play India in New Delhi on Sunday, September 13, September 15 and September 17, in a three-match T20I series, where Afghanistan will play the hosts to India, at the Arun Jaitley Stadium.

The ACB has added that BCCI has agreed to the aforementioned dates.

This will be the first time Afghanistan host India on Indian soil, despite having played their home games in India for some time. Afghanistan have hosted matches in Lucknow, Dehradun and Greater Noida, but have never faced India on home soil.

“The ACB hereby confirms that the India tour of Afghanistan 2026 is scheduled to take place from September 13 to September 17. The ACB further confirms that the dates of the event have been confirmed and agreed with BCCI and the venues of the scheduled matches have also been finalised,” ACB CEO Naseeb Khan wrote to the board’s commercial partners in a letter.

The Afghan Board’s formal stance has ruled out the possibility of India touring Bangladesh. The Bangladesh Cricket Board had pencilled in September 1 to 13 for the six white-ball games, but at least one of Afghanistan’s matches clashes with that window.

With less than three weeks remaining before the proposed BCB dates, the Bangladesh series now appears all but off, unless the governments issue an unlikely last-minute directive.

“While an official public announcement regarding the event is yet to be made by the concerned authorities, the ACB is issuing this letter as an official confirmation of the scheduled dates and venues of the India tour of Afghanistan 2026,” Naseeb said.

As per a Cricbuzz report, ITW Universe, which owns the media rights, is in discussions with JioStar, Sony Sports and Zee Unite8 for the linear rights to the three games.

The broadcaster is expected to be finalised by Wednesday, while FanCode holds the digital rights.
