Hanuman Ansh director wants Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma to watch the film

The buzz around the low-budget Hanuman Ansh has extended beyond its impressive box-office run, with the film receiving appreciation from personalities across fields. Recently, Kangana Ranaut and Madhur Bhandarkar heaped praise on the film. Now, former Indian cricketer Virender Sehwag has shared a video expressing his thoughts on the film after watching the film with his child. Writer-director Dr Vishal Chaturvedi said the former cricketer’s gesture and appreciation left him deeply touched, especially given his own admiration for Sehwag and cricket.

While speaking to NDTV, Vishal Chaturvedi said that Virender Sehwag’s video made him “incredibly happy.” He said, “I have always been a huge cricket fan. The day Virender Sehwag retired, I stopped watching cricket. And that man, without us even saying anything to him, went and watched the film on his own with his child. What he wrote and said after watching the film made me feel as though life had come full circle. I was a huge cricket fan, and what he did was so heart-warming. It made me incredibly happy.”

Chaturvedi revealed that what made Sehwag’s gesture even more special was the fact that the former cricketer watched the film without any prompting from the team. The director now hopes that Virat Kohli watches the film with his wife and actress Anushka Sharma. Vishal added, “I want Virat and Anushka to watch the film as well, if something along those lines can be arranged.” He said it would be a moment of great joy for the entire team if Virat and Anushka watched the film.

Meanwhile, Madhur Bhandarkar recently hailed the entire team of Hanuman Ansh and described it as a “crucial case study” for the Indian film industry. He wrote on his X handle, “Witnessed pure cinematic magic watching #HanumanAnsh in the theatre the audience was completely glued to the screen! @filmervishal direction is wonderfully honest & tender, while actor Shobhinav Satya’s portrayal of Neem Karoli Baba is purely natural and flawless. This small budget film with a non-star cast is a crucial case study for the entire Indian film industry. It proves that true conviction and powerful storytelling always triumph over massive budget films at the box office. My heartiest congratulations to the entire team the producers, actors, and technicians for their brilliant dedication, and a big thank you to the audience for making this incredible film a roaring blockbuster!”

Written and directed by Vishal Chaturvedi, Hanuman Ansh draws inspiration from the life and teachings of Neem Karoli Baba, fondly known as Maharaj-ji.

It is not yet known if Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma will watch the film. The director of Hanuman Ansh, Dr Vishal Chaturvedi, has expressed his hope that they will watch it and stated that he wants to arrange a viewing for them.

Hanuman Ansh is considered a crucial case study because it was made on a modest budget with a non-star cast, yet achieved massive box-office success through true conviction and powerful storytelling. Filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar noted that the film’s triumph proves these creative elements can successfully overcome massive-budget films at the box office.

Neem Karoli Baba, also known as Maharaj-ji, was an Indian Hindu spiritual teacher and a devout follower of Lord Hanuman. Born as Lakshman Narayan Sharma around 1900 in Akbarpur, Uttar Pradesh, he was believed by his devotees to be an aspect or avatar of Lord Hanuman. He founded the Kainchi Dham ashram in Uttarakhand in 1962. His teachings focused on love, compassion, and service, often summarised as “love everyone, feed everyone and serve everyone”.
