AR Rahman’s family was hit by an unfortunate incident on Monday, August 10, when his son, playback singer AR Ameen, was involved in a road accident in Chennai. He wrote, “Yesterday, on the way to the airport, I was in the passenger seat of my friend’s car when we got into a minor accident. By God’s grace, everyone involved is safe and okay. All praises to the Almighty (EPI) for His grace and protection over all of us.”

He also thanked his fans and family for reaching out to him. His note further read, “I want to sincerely thank my family, friends, and well-wishers who reached out, checked on me, and sent their love and prayers. It truly means more to me than I can express. According to Hindustan Times, the accident took place at around 3.30 am near Guindy, Chennai, when Ameen was reportedly heading towards the area with a friend. According to the police, the luxury SUV he was travelling in collided with a hatchback being operated by a cab aggregator after the latter moved from the left side of the road into the main lane. Ameen, his friend and the hatchback driver, sustained minor injuries in the crash. They were given basic first aid and discharged, with no fatalities reported. Police subsequently seized both vehicles in connection with the incident.

The report also claims that a case has been registered under relevant provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act, including Section 337, which concerns causing hurt by an act endangering life or personal safety, and Section 279, pertaining to rash or negligent driving on a public road.
