Legendary Australian fast bowler Brett Lee has settled the GOAT debate in cricket by picking former India star Sachin Tendulkar as the best batsman of all time and South Africa great Jacques Kallis as the best cricketer.

Lee, who finished his international career with 310 Test, 380 ODI and 28 T20I wickets, believes Kallis has the best numbers in the world.

Kallis represented South Africa at the highest level from 1995 to 2014 and scored 13,289 and 11,579 runs in Tests and ODIs, respectively. He also took 292 Test wickets and 273 ODI wickets. In addition, he played 25 T20Is, scoring 666 runs and picking up 12 wickets.

Tendulkar, on the other hand, played for India for 24 years and tops the list of batters with the most runs in both Tests and ODIs.

“I think the best batsman to ever play the game is Sachin Tendulkar, but the best cricketer, in my opinion, is Jacques Kallis. He has the best numbers in the world if you look at his stats. The stats don’t lie. He is incredible,” Lee said on The Ranveer Show (TRS).

During his more than a decade-long international career with Australia, Lee played multiple matches against Tendulkar and Kallis and enjoyed a fair bit of success against both.

Lee also shared the dressing room with Kallis during their time at Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL and won the title in 2012 under Gautam Gambhir’s leadership.

The former Australian pacer also talked about Virat Kohli, whom he played against during the final years of his career. When asked if he thought Kohli would go on to become a big player in the future, Lee said he was convinced about the Indian star’s potential.

“When you see him in his eyes, he looks straight at you and it’s like, ‘Game on. You’re not going to get me out.’ I saw that when I played against him. He’s still the same tiger, and I think he will be very proud of what he has achieved. People can think what they want. If he hasn’t scored one run in a game, then he’s past his best — it’s all rubbish. Just have a look at his record. His record is impeccable. It’s incredible.”
