But the post claims their financial position did not always work in their favour. “Girls families (2020 – 2021): Kept rejecting their profiles saying they dont have their own houses in vizag and they dont want to consider ancestral properties,” the user wrote. The situation allegedly continued even after the men bought their own flats. “These guys still kept getting rejected even if they bought their own flats as they are on EMI and they dont want their daughters to pay the house EMI if one of them looses their jobs,” the Redditor claimed.

The post then listed what the user described as changing expectations from prospective matches. “Most of the matches they are getting are from girls who have completed their education 5 to 7 years back and have not been working since then or they have worked for a max of 1 year and then quit their jobs,” the Redditor alleged. The post also claimed that some families wanted the groom’s side to have “assets worth 2 to 3 crores apart from the house”, while also expecting the boy’s family to provide “20 to 25 tolas of gold to the girl during marriage.”

The Redditor further wrote that “On 2 instances the girl told the boy that she will only marry him if he promises 1 foreign trip every year.” The post also alleged that on two occasions, the boys’ families were told they would have to pay “for all marriage expenses (Not split) including expenses at the girls house”, with the families reportedly citing it as “their family tradition.”
